The Tail Of Turing

5.12.18

Our class visited Bletchley Park today and had an amazing tour guide (See picture below for a better look). I don’t know his/her name and the owner was nowhere in sight but she/he was able to lead us towards the mansion exhibit and even escort us inside the new enigma exhibit in hut 11A. Unfortunately our guide didn’t stay by our side the entire time but i believe all of us were able to enjoy the open spaces a beautiful weather. Some of us (Jack) tried to get too close to the sun tanning swans, luckily no one lost any fingers. Bletchley was much more spacious and comfortable than the War Rooms we visited in the center of London. I enjoyed the contrast between the two because they showed two different strategies to handling bombing raids. The war rooms are underground by multiple feet of metal sheeting and concrete that create a semi-bomb proof roof. This was necessary because of its location in the center of London and the city’s likeliness to be a bombing target. Bletchley however is miles outside the city and the threat of bombs is way less likely. The land and housing is also much more sprawling and therefore bombs would be less effective. The open spaces and mixed animals added life to Bletchley and the Turing exhibits.
